Low-Dose, Digital X-Rays
At VanderWall Orthodontics, our patients’ safety is a top priority, which is why we use low-dose, digital x-rays. While conventional dental x-rays are safe and the benefits usually outweigh the small risk, digital x-rays emit up to 90% less radiation, making them an even safer option. Our digital x-rays are also more comfortable and don’t need to be developed like traditional film x-rays, which saves you time.
How do
Digital X-Rays Work?
X-rays are a crucial part of the diagnostic process. They let Dr. VanderWall see the areas of your mouth that aren’t visible to the naked eye so that he can develop an accurate diagnosis and ensure your teeth, gums and bone structures are healthy enough for orthodontic treatment. When taking digital x-rays, a team member places a small electronic sensor in your mouth. The sensor transmits the images to our computer screen instantly. The images from digital x-rays are sharper and we can manipulate them on our screen to get a closer look. Thanks to the accuracy, we don’t have to do retakes, which reduces your radiation exposure even further.
Fast
Digital x-rays don’t rely on film that needs to be processed, so you don’t have to wait for the images to be developed. We’re able to see the images on our screen instantly.
Safe
Our digital x-rays expose patients to up to 90% less radiation than conventional dental x-rays. They’re a safe option for patients of all ages.
Precise
Digital x-rays are sharper than traditional film x-rays. We can also do things like zoom and enhance the contrast to get a better view.
Simple to Share
We can much more easily show you our findings using digital x-rays. They can also be emailed to other dental providers, if necessary.
